KINGSTON — When U.S. Rep. John Faso, R-19, opted not to attend a town hall to answer questions about health care, a congressman from a neighboring district decided to attend in his place.

U.S. Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, a Democrat who represents southwestern Dutchess, eastern Westchester, Orange and Putnam counties, traveled north to Kingston on Monday to hear constituents’ concerns about the American Health Care Act of 2017, which was passed by the House of Representatives last week.

Politicians and other leaders in blue states such as California and New York blasted House Republicans for passing the American Health Care Act (AHCA).

The bill (H.R. 1628) to repeal the Affordable Care Act would cost New York almost $7 billion annually by 2021, according to a statement from New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (D). He said 2.7 million New Yorkers will be left without health coverage.

Times Herald-Record: Protesters denounce Faso’s vote for GOP health-care bill

KINGSTON – A hard rain drenched demonstrators outside the office of Rep. John Faso on Friday, but it did nothing to dampen their enthusiasm for getting the Republican out of Congress.

Umbrellas bloomed as about 200 demonstrators planted themselves on the sidewalk in front of Faso’s office on Broadway.

They pointed their signs at traffic driving by, and the blare of car horns mingled with chants of “Na, na, na, na; hey, Faso, goodbye.”

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -Protestors gathered outside Congresswoman Claudia Tenney's office in downtown Binghamton to voice their concern about repealing the Affordable Care Act. The "Hands Off Our Health Care" rally was held in light of the House Republican's decision to move forward on a health care vote.

Protestors shared personal stories about the healthcare system. Some worry that with the length of the bill and last minute changes, representatives can't make an informed decision and shouldn't vote on the bill.

Mid-Hudson Congressman John Faso voted in favor of the American Health Care Act on Thursday — and took heat for it from opponents of the bill.

“The Affordable Care Act has failed in its promises to the American people,” Rep. Faso, R-Kinderhook, said in a prepared statement after Thursday’s vote 217-213 vote in the House to repeal and replace the 2010 act, commonly called Obamacare.
